Nestlé created Nestea, a powdered ice tea mix in 1948. Nestea is sold around the world in numerous flavors and many that are specific to certain regions.
While it started out as a powder to be mixed with water, after a time, Nestlé began to bottle it for easy consumption. Powdered and liquid forms are available in regular and diet versions. Recently to market is a liquid water enhancer in an easy to use container. When added to water, you can add as much or as little flavor as you want.
Nestea is made with black, green or red teas and each provides a distinctive taste. Green and black teas are both from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The difference is that the green tea leaves go through very little processing and it provides a mild flavor. Black tea leaves go through complete processing, which provides a stronger flavor. Red tea, which is sometimes referred to as rooibos tea, comes from a South African bush named Rooibos, and this has a distinctly different flavor than green or black tea. Nestea has a balanced, refreshing taste, with a touch of fruit flavor.
