In Syracuse, New York, the Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppe chain is planning something big in order to offer groceries to areas in New York which have been underserved. This was according to a report by The Post-Standard.
Currently, Nice N Easy grocery chain already has 80 stores and is still continuing its expansion and development. In fact, the company is planning to develop a new-model grocery store with the purpose of reaching towns that have lost their supermarkets. According to the company’s vice president, Matthew Paduano, the model stores are designed to accommodate more groceries in the same space that was once occupied by smaller supermarkets that went out of business. Some target locations for this prototype store include Lakeport, Onondaga Hill and Brewerton.
The grocery chain’s annual trade show was just recently held this week (Wednesday) and Matthew Paduano talked about the company’s plans at the event. Managers and crew of its different stores gathered at the affair which was held in Syracuse. Vendors that sold food and other products were also invited at the event. At the trade show, there were 100 vendors who proudly displayed their products to franchise owners and managers.
Although the number of products and displays at the trade show were fewer than in previous years, Paduano said this is not something that can be considered negative. The reason behind the fewer displays is the merging of some companies. For instance, Miller Brewing Company and Coors Brewing Company have merged and are now producing the beer MillerCoors.
