Chungs-seafood-egg-rolsChung’s Products, a company that retails Asian foods all over the US, have been given the green light by the courts to continue with their supply of non-sea food delicacies. According to the order issued by the court, the company’s production was found to meet the standards laid out by the US FDA (food and drug administration). The company, which currently is the work place of over 130 workers, has its base in Houston, Texas.

The company was shut down after investigations by the FDA showed that the production company was operating under conditions that were unsanitary and went against the laws laid out by the FDA. The FDA took the company to court in March 2010 and the judge ruled in favor of the FDA. To roll back into production the company was expected to develop a risk analysis program, ensure that all its workers had undergone proper training in terms of sanitation, among other requirements set out by the FDA following its 4-year investigation into the dealings of the company.

As it stands, there has never been a product recall for any of the company’s goods and neither have any contamination related diseases been reported in connection with their products, which have secured spots in some of the nation’s major shopping stores. The FDA has been on their case ever since 2007, when an 8-day inspection led to the company receiving a warning letter from the control agency following the violations that had been observed.

The major concerns that FDA raised at that time, was that the packaging of their products was inadequate to curb the multiplication of botulism causing bacteria. The cooking instructions on their food labels was also deemed to require further verification since it did not address issues such as the water that would be used during the cooking, the state of the preparation surfaces and the problems with cross-contamination.
