This week, some organizations have been promoting blood donations and giving away ice cream coupons, and some goods to those who participated.
In Farmington, MountainStar Blood Services is encouraging residents and everyone else to participate and donate blood. In exchange for the blood donators’ generosity, they will be given a coupon that entitles them to a free ice cream, shake or other frosty treat from Sub Zero Ice Cream®. This bloodletting program is aptly termed the “Pint-for-Pint” promotion. According to Marilyn Peralta, MBS Director, this promotion will be on going for a month or two. The organization has a mobile unit that participants can call if ever they decide to donate blood. Blood donations are also done at the organization’s donor center.
A similar blood donation campaign is on going over at Pennsylvania. Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank has partnered with Rita’s Italian Ice to encourage everyone to donate blood. Pennsylvania’s Blood Bank and Rita’s will be holding three blood donation campaigns in the month. Those participating will be given an ice cream coupon and a T-shirt. The bloodletting campaigns will be held at the Swatara Square Plaza.
These blood donation campaigns are held and promoted, especially during summer, because it is during these times that people are either away or very busy. With this humanitarian campaign, people who donate their blood get to help a lot of people who are in dire need of blood with the added bonus of getting ice cream and some goodies for free. Although being able to help is incentive enough, eating free ice cream certainly never hurt.
