On the 31st of January this year, a product recall was announced by Magic Valley Fresh Frozen, Inc. This product recall pertains to their breaded okra product, which possibly contains whey.
The affected batch has 6,492 packs of breaded okra. The products are packed in 16-ounce retail bags made of plastic. The batch has a lot code of MV23510P1 or MV29110O1 which is found on the flipside of the retail pack. The UPC number for this lot is 0 11213 35681 5 or 0 11161 13389 6.
Whey is a main composition of milk, which is known to be one of the most common allergens. Milk and other food items can trigger allergy attacks in people who are sensitive to it. This could result in serious health risks to the allergy sufferer.
Currently, there has been no allergy attack incidents reported due to consumption of the recalled product. Magic Valley has also stressed that aside from their breaded okra product, no other product is affected by this company initiated product recall.
The recalled breaded okra products are sold in retail stores in different parts of the country under the Shurfine or Spartan brand. Retailers have been advised to remove the affected products from their display.
Consumers who bought the recalled breaded okra product can return it to the store in order to be given a refund. They can also call Magic Valley’s Consumer Services Department at 956-994-8947. The office is available from 8 AM until 5 PM Central Standard Time.
