TLC’s latest episode of “Extreme Couponing” featured two mothers who are experts in bringing their grocery bills down from several hundreds to just a few dollars.

The EC team went on a grocery shopping trip with Amber Bustanoby of Washington to witness how she manages to pay very little for a lot of groceries. Bustanoby, who owns a stockpile comprising of a number of laundry soaps, canned tomatoes, cake mixes and a lot more, said that she started couponing three years ago, when her husband became unemployed and her part-time job did not help enough to feed the family. She gets her coupons in dumpsters, from neighbors and through trading with friends. As for the grocery trip that she was doing, Bustanoby said that it was preparation for the summer. At the grocery store, Bustanoby and the EC staff spent more than 4 hours scouring the place for items that she could match with her coupons. At check out all her groceries totaled to $1,885.56, but she ended up paying only $44.26 after using her coupons.

Another Washington Mom, Tammilee Tillison, showed EC her stockpile room which contained about a thousand items that she accumulated by couponing. Tillison said that extreme couponing has helped her and her husband save a lot. A big part of their savings allows them to travel to other places, which they both love doing. Again, EC went with Tillison in her trip to the grocery to witness how much she could save by using her coupons. Tillison’s grocery items totaled to $640.84, for which she paid $17.71 after using her coupons.
