The building is about sixty-thousand square feet and has several laboratories. There are vials and beakers containing liquid compounds that undergo numerous tests done by technicians who write down the findings and conclusions prior to carrying out additional tests. The facility mainly deals with pet food. However, the laboratory also conducts tests on food products including soybeans, gummy candy, and corn by investigating different characteristics. The laboratory testing techniques can estimate the amount of vitamins, calories and other nutrients present in different food products. Clients can use the test results to support nutritional claims or even challenge the claims of other food companies.
The Iowa laboratory is the headquarters of Eurofins Food Company in the United States. It has about 150 employees. According to the vice president of the United States branch, the company aims at making sure that the foods human consume is safe. This is achieved by conducting a series of tests to get rid of harmful content in human and pet food.
