Nowadays, almost every product, service or establishment makes use of coupons for promoting their business. This is the effect of consumers showing so much love for the use of coupons.
According to an NCH study, more businesses were using coupons for promotions in 2010 than the year before. Last year, a total of $3.7 billion was saved by shoppers using coupons. This amount is higher by $20 million than for 2009. The savings are primarily attributed to increased coupon promotions and daily deals offered by manufacturers and service providers. In fact, according to NCH’s survey, there were billions of coupons (332 billion, to be exact) that were sent out for packed goods.
One sector in the business area that used coupons for its promotions is the garden business. Kim Gaida, who is from the company Dundee Nursery & Landscape, said that their company has been using coupons extensively for a number of years and it has never failed them as it always pays off. Although problems occur at times, like consumers stacking coupons, the good still outweigh the bad. Gaida added that they are able to determine a coupon’s popularity by the number of that particular coupon that is returned to them via redemption. They also know if a coupon is popular by the number of extra coupons that the company hands out and also by how sick the cashiers get of seeing a specific coupon.
According to NCH, the total volume of coupons produced in the United States increased by 3.1% as compared to the volume produced in the country for 2009.
