Wegmans Food Markets Inc. announced price freezes that will be running from August 26th to December 31st.The fixing of prices on fall items has been announced by the company and will be available especially on Wegmans own brands.
According to Wegmans, the move is to help families plan for their purchases with ease this fall and this can only be made possible if the prices are stable for an extended period of time. In addition, the list was developed while taking into consideration the value of family meals, which the company wants to encourage. Wegmans said that the list of discounts available are on family items, particularly those that help families pack lunches and make family meals. This has the greatest impact because these commodities are considered as basic human commodities. Some of these items include whole roasting chicken, whole grain breads and pasta, tilapia, frozen vegetables, cereals, and peanut butter. Whole roasting chicken will now go for $0.99 cents a pound while a 5 lb. bag of white potatoes will go for $1.99. Other items that feature on the discount list are shampoo, toothpaste and paper towels, as well as other everyday items.
A price freeze effectively means that even with unexpected or expected changes in other costs, the price of these items will not change. Wegmans has promised that if the costs of the items that appear on the discount list do go up they will not adjust the retail prices upwards. This is definitely good news for all the consumers.
Wegmans is based in Rochester, New York and has over 80 stores. The company also had a two day free drug offer (for both new and refill prescriptions) from August 26-27th on prescriptions for Atorvastatin, the generic for Lipitor.
