Bolthouse FarmsBolthouse Farms is one of America’s largest producers of fresh carrots and a variety of carrot products. The company also produces fruit juices, smoothies and chai tea.

History
Bolthouse Farm’s history began in 1915 when the Bolthouse family decided to engage in commercial farming in western Michigan. Soon after starting the business, the family was field-packing fresh celery and storing onions to be sold during the off-season. William Bolthouse soon had fresh carrot demands coming from local canneries.

In 1959, Bolthouse constructed a cellophane packing plant for the company’s fresh carrot products. This type of packaging for carrots became very popular with consumers and allowed Bolthouse to market the company’s carrots in grocery chains and supermarkets.

In 1972, William Bolthouse, the son of the original founder, moved production to Bakersfield, California in order to provide fresh carrots to customers on a year-round basis.

In 1990, Bolthouse introduced SHORTCUTS®, a line of ready-to-eat peeled and cut carrots. In 1994, the demand for this new product became overwhelming for the old packing plant and so the company constructed a larger one to accommodate the increasing demand for SHORTCUTS®. A second packing plant was constructed in 1999.

In the succeeding years, Bolthouse built its own bottling facility and introduced its line of beverage products, Bolthouse Farms® Super Premium. When Bolthouse discovered the health benefits of acai berry, the company created Bolthouse Brazil in order to create beverages made from acai berries and distribute it around the world. Because of the company’s superior expertise in farming, as well as in produce processing and handling, Bolthouse Farms® acai berry beverages are considered to be one of the purest and the best there is.

Bolthouse Farms also launched a line of all-natural salad dressings based on yogurt instead of the conventional mayonnaise. This makes Bolthouse Farms® salad dressings healthier, as it contains only half the calories and fat as compared to that of the leading brand. Although this line of refrigerated product is another unique offering from the company, customers will still be able to enjoy the excellent freshness and flavor that Bolthouse Farms has been providing all these years.
The company continues to keep its continuously growing number of customers by consistently providing excellent quality products and customer service.
