Kroger2In an effort to keep up with the competition, Kroger plans on opening up new divisions in other areas of the country such as Nashville and Louisville Tennessee. This new development also comes with the appointment of new executives who will be placed in charge of the new stores. The company has been making efforts over the years to ensure that the quality and range of services that they provide to their customers is that of the highest quality. Calvin Kaufman and Rick Going were named president of the Louisville and Nashville divisions, respectively. Jayne Homco was also named as the president of the Michigan division. These three were thought to be the best fit for the positions that are considered to be very demanding. This is because they will be joining a new market and they will definitely need to have the best management skills to ensure that they are able to meet and sustain the demand in the new regions.

The establishment of the new line of supermarkets in the south has been seen as a way of opening up the region for further growth. Some of the regions that have been anticipated to benefit from the establishment of these stores include Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama, and Southern Illinois. Most of the stores in the said areas had previously been serviced by the Mid South division that was based in Louisville. All of the Kroger divisions have the authority to merchandise and make decisions in their areas of jurisdiction. As of 2012, Kroger was already operating 11 grocery stores in Alabama and about 55 stores in Illinois.
