QualityvilleBecause of the growing popularity of online games such as Mafia Wars and Farmville, grocery chain Schnucks has come up with its own online game for promotional purposes.

Schnucks’ game is called “Qualityville.” The idea for creating it sprung from the popularity of the games in the social networking site Facebook. Lori Willis, Schnucks’ director for communications, said that they developed Qualityville in order to provide consumers with “Educainment.” Qualityville’s purpose is to provide more information about Schnucks’ stores and at the same time have fun while doing it. Willis added that although Schnucks is already known for the quality of its goods, much is still to be learned about the company. With the company’s new online game, they will be able to answer possible questions that customers might have forgotten to ask.

Qualityville can be played for eight weeks and will end by July 13. Fourteen video clips about the store will be included in the game. Once a user successfully registers in Qualityville, he can then select from any of the 15 videos (all lasting for 1 minute) of Schnucks stores. Each video allows the players to have a chance at winning the $25,000 grand prize.

The Qualityville online game is part of the company’s “Peace of Mind” campaign which they started back in January. The first part of the campaign focused on giving its customers the best value on the products that are sold in the store. The second part of the campaign focused on giving its customers some “behind the scenes” information about how food ends up in their carts. The company believes that Qualityville, being the third part of the campaign, will be a very effective tool to educate customers about the store, and at the same time show customers that Shnucks gives good value.
