Country Meat Packing is a privately owned Canadian food company engaged in the processing and distribution of deli products. The company headquarters are in Ontario, Canada.
History
Country Meat Packing, or CMP, was founded in 1976. Initially, the company owned a facility that had an area of 1,200 square feet. From the beginning, CMP focused on processing different kinds of deli products, as well as distributing these products for wholesale.
Over the years, the company slowly started to expand as the demand for its deli products started to increase. With this expansion, the company sought to improve its processes and create a product flow. This product flow aimed to eliminate the possibility of cross-contamination of fresh meat from the point where it enters the process to the point where it becomes the final product. As soon as processing is finished, the products are packaged and stored in a separate room before preparation for shipping.
CMP has also obtained a HACCP certification for its facilities. Ensuring customers that what they will be getting from the company is a safe product. The company started to focus on getting its HACCP certificate in 2004, when the company’s facility was 9000 square feet in area. The company received its HACCP certificate a year later.
In 2008, CMP decided that it was ready to move up one level and come under the regulation of the Canadian Federal Inspection Agency, or the CFIA. Because of this step, the company had to further its renovations in the facility. All of the renovations were completed within a year, resulting in a new and improved facility of 28,000 square feet. The facility machinery is mostly made of stainless steel. and has a larger area for processing different kinds of meat products, enabling CMP to supply retailers in all parts of Canada.
The broadened shipping capability resulted in an even bigger market for the company, and an even wider range for the company’s products. In February of 2011, CMP started to implement a new coding system for its wide array of products. After more than 30 years of being in the business, CMP continues to maintain its commitment to produce safe and high-quality processed meat products for its consumers.
