J&J Snack Foods is a food processing company engaged in the production of a variety of snack foods, frozen beverages and frozen baked goods. The company has been listed five times in Forbes magazine as one of the best small companies in the country.

History
J & J Snack Foods was founded in 1971 and has been consistently and steadily growing since its inception. In 2000, the company launched its frozen desserts under the brand Minute Maid®. Their SUPERPRETZEL display units were also updated with a new millennium look. A year after, J&J acquired Uptown Bakeries, a company engaged in producing fresh bakery goods like bagels, muffins and donuts. In the same year, the company launched a new product, Pretzel Fillers. By this time, the company’s sales had reached $328 million.

In 2002, the company’s ICEE brand celebrated its 35th year. J&J also went into a partnership with Coca-Cola and introduced BARQ’S Vanilla Ice Cream Float and Frozen Root Beer to the market. A year after, Superpretzel Pretzelfils was introduced to the marketplace. It was also in the same year that the company was recognized by Forbes magazine as part of the Best 200 Small Companies in the country.

In 2004, J&J purchased Country Home Bakers’ assets. Roger Clemens also signed on as the spokesperson for the company’s Superpretzel. A year after, J&J acquired SnackWorks, LLC. In 2006 Luigi’s® product line was expanded through the inclusion of new products such as Mango and Pina Colada. J&J also acquired Icee® and Slush Puppie® in the same year. With these acquisitions, J&J strengthened its position in the industry of frozen beverages.

In 2007, the company continued with its strategic acquisitions by purchasing Hom/Ade Foods, Inc., Radar, Inc. and brands Whole Fruit® and Fruit-a-Freeze® and Dogsters®. In the same year, J&J also was listed again in Forbes’ Best 200 Small Companies, making it the company’s fifth time to be included in the list.

In 2008, J&J’s acquired Jana’s Indulgence Cookies. The company also introduced new products which include Funnel Cake Fries™ and Whole Fruit® Fruit Bars. Currently, J&J Snack Foods is engaged in food service, restaurants, retail supermarkets and frozen beverages.
