In Union, New Jersey, shoppers are testing out the newest addition to Target’s store in Springfield: the grocery section.
Jennie Cane, who is a resident of South Orange, New Jersey, said that the grocery section does not compare with that of Harrods Food Hall in London, but it is a convenient place to shop for fruit and other common grocery items. Cane used Harrods Food Hall (a gigantic superstore in London) as a point of comparison because she was once a resident of the city.
Target’s store on Spring Avenue, which is located in Union, New Jersey, is already starting to draw in customers to its newly opened grocery section. A majority of customers who are enticed to shop at the new section include out-of-town shoppers. Target is still aiming to attract more and more customers by introducing fresh meats and produce on its display shelves. The store previously only displayed dry goods, and the addition of fresh food items was definitely an added attraction to the grocery section.
Aside from other popular brands, many grocery items that are sold are from Target’s private label. These store branded products include iced cookies, refrigerated pizza and shredded cheese. As for produce like bananas and apples, the store sells them by the piece, as their checkout counters do not have scales yet.
As a mother of 2 young children, Jennie Cane frequently visits grocery stores to buy necessary things for her kids, as well as small varieties of food. When asked if she would buy groceries at Target’s grocery section again, Jennie Cane answered that she most likely will.
