CarbRite DietOn April 21, the company Doctor’s CarbRite Diet announced a recall on its Chocolate Brownie bars due to the presence of undeclared allergens.

The brownie bars are said to possibly contain soy, egg, tree nuts, peanuts and milk. This is because the equipment used to process the recalled bars also processes products containing the allergens, which could have lead to cross-contamination. The brownie bars are being recalled because the retail packaging does not include the precautionary allergy alert. This alert should have been found on the packaging, just below the list of ingredients.

All the batches of product, which were affected are being recalled. The indicated UPC code is 0 39442 08112 4. The company emphasizes that only the chocolate brownie bars are recalled and no other Doctor’s CarbRite Diet products are affected.

People who have increased sensitivities to peanuts, chestnuts, walnuts, pecans, cashews, brazil nuts, hazelnuts and pine nuts may suffer allergy attacks from ingestion of the allergens. For people with pre-existing medical conditions, allergy attacks can be very serious.

The recalled brownie bars have been distributed to different retail stores in all 50 states in the country. They have also been sold via gyms and online stores. The U.S. FDA has been informed of this product recall.

Costumers who bought the recalled chocolate brownie bars are advised to return them to the store in exchange for a refund. They may also call the company at 732-545-3130 from 9 AM until 5 PM, Eastern Time, for any questions or concerns they may have about the product. The company is open from Monday through Friday.
