InBEv UK Limited recently announced a recall for specific batches of its “Stella Artois Cidre” due to the fermentation of yeast inside the bottled product. This fermentation might cause the bottles, which are made of glass, to burst.
As there is a possibility of the glass bottles bursting on an unsuspecting consumer who is holding it, the affected product presents a danger to consumers. The recalled “Stella Artois Cidre” is contained in single glass bottles with a net volume of 568 ml. Each bottle case contains 12 single 568 ml-bottles. The recalled “Stella Artois Cidre” have a “best before” date of April 2012 to May 2012. No other InBev products, or Stella Artois beverages, are affected by the recall aside from batches 1182381, 1217381 and 1214381 of “Stella Artois Cidre.”
InBev UK Limited is already in the process of recovering the affected products from retailers and consumers. Point-of-sale notices have been issued to retail stores. These notices explain the reason why the product was recalled. The notices also contain information on the actions done by the company to correct the problem. It also contains information on what retailers and consumers can do if they are in possession of the affected product. A press release was also placed in national newspapers the day the recall was announced.
People who have the recalled product in their possession are advised to handle it carefully and to wear protective eyewear and gloves when handling it. To check if the product is included in the recalled batch, check its batch code which can be seen on the bottle’s neck. For a 12-pack, the batch code can be seen on the pack’s long side. Retailers and consumers are advised to call InBev at 0800-0731736 (8 in the morning until 8 in the evening) and to not handle or consume the product.
