Breaux Mart Supermarkets is a privately owned chain of supermarkets. These stores are primarily situated in New Orleans, Louisiana.
History
The first Breaux Mart Supermarket was opened and operated by P. Paul Breaux. It was founded in 1969 with two sites both on the west side of the Mississippi River. Mr. Breaux started this grocery business with the desire to sell quality products at a low price.
In1992, Mr. Breaux relinquished control of the company and sold it to his son Barry. Currently, Barry Breaux runs five Breaux Mart Supermarkets established in different parts of Louisiana, namely the Garden District, River Ridge, Gretna, Metairie and Chalmette. The newest Breaux Mart store, situated in Chalmette, Louisiana, opened just several years ago. This latest store opening even earned a spot in the October 2006 issue of the local weekly broadsheet City Business.
Since 1969, Breaux Mart Supermarkets have always held an appeal to the general populace of New Orleans, Louisiana. This is because the stores’ management has always held its customers with high respect and makes sure that the company continuously adapts to their varying needs. Breaux Mart is able to continue its high level of customer service as it steadily provides its consumers with clean facilities, low prices and a welcoming staff. Added to this commendable service are up-to-date checkout counters that help speed up the shopping process for customers who are in a hurry.
Among the assortment of products that Breaux Mart offers include fresh produce artfully packaged in fruit or gift baskets, depending on what the customer wants. Meat products are also available, and only USDA approved beef is sold. The store also offers a variety of seafood, including the famous Louisiana shrimp and oysters. Deli products are available, all fresh and packed. The list of the stores’ deli products are even uploaded on the company’s website for easy orders. Breaux Mart also offers a selection of specialty wines and beers.
Probably the most notable of the stores’ products are King Cakes. These cakes are baked from Breaux Mart’s own bakery and are prepared everyday from January 6 until Mardi Gras. These cakes are delivered oven fresh and boxed with Mardi Gras cups, beads and a handout that explains the Mardi Gras custom.
