People who have known allergies to gluten or have celiac disease will be happy to learn about this new product from Kellogg’s. The company has launched its gluten free Rice Krispies.

With this new cereal product, kids and parents alike who have been unable to enjoy the original Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies because of gluten sensitivity can now do so. The new gluten free Rice Krispies eliminates the barley malt. This new recipe also uses brow rice, which are whole grain in nature, to differentiate the product from the earlier variety. This will also provide consumers with a unique and flavorful product.

Every serving of gluten free Rice Krispies has 120 calories, 1 gram of fat, 3 grm of protein, 1 gram of fiber, 190 miligrams of sodium  and less than a gram of sugar. This cereal product is also fortified with a number of minerals and vitamins.

To ensure that these Rice Krispies will really be a hundred percent gluten-free, it is manufacturer at a difference place where the company processes only gluten-free products. Aside from being processed in a dedicated facility, the final products will then have to undergo testing (per batch) to double check and ensure that no gluten has contaminated the products.

According to Kellogg’s senior VP for innovation and marketing, this new cereal product was created as a response to consumers from the gluten-free community. These consumers have expressed a strong desire for gluten-free products that are affordable, and yet remain to be nutritious and flavorful.
