Kroger

Every grocery, retailer and supermarket offer their customers methods and ways to save money on their grocery shopping. Kroger takes this customer service above and beyond by offering three different ways that a customer can save on grocery shopping every day. As soon as you get to Kroger’s home page, you will see the different tabs on the top navigation menu, including Weekly Ad, Coupons and Promotions.

The first opportunity to save is with Kroger’s digital coupons program. The digital coupon program is essentially a way to load items that are eligible to member only savings onto the members card, so that once in the store, you will not have to carry any paper coupons or ad. Clicking on the program’s link will direct you to the digital coupons page, where you can browse coupons according to category, popularity, expiration, value or most recent. The monetary savings value and term of use (e.g. buy one get one half off) are shown with a picture of the item.

The next saving opportunity is the more traditional weekly ad. Clicking on the Weekly Ad category redirects to the Weekly Ads Finder, where you enter a zip/postal code, or city/state and find a store anywhere from 10 to 50+ miles in the vicinity of the search. After choosing a specific store, you can see the “weekly ad” and other “specials (e.g. Summer Low Prices).” In both of these sections there is an interactive picture of the ad, where you can choose the discount you want, and add it to your list. Once the list is complete you can view it and then e-mail it or print them out.

The third savings option is Promotions. This section refers to the Kroger’s Shoppers Card, which enables you to use the digital coupons, receive e-mails, special online promotions, and personalized offers. Being a member creates the option to receive the weekly ad and special offers by e-mail, and create and save a shopping list. There is also a link to the Kroger savings mobile application. On the promotions page you will see a link to the current promotion, for example “Get Out & Grill” where you will find coupons, recipes, tips and tricks, and the chance to win a free gift card for Kroger’s at a certain value.

Although Kroger does accept manufacturer coupons, they can no longer be combined with Kroger digital coupons. Digital offers do not double up, and must be printed out to be used in store (cannot bring in a picture on a mobile phone). There is also a limit of one use per digital coupon per transaction.

If you have used any of these savings opportunities please share your experiences in the comment section below.
