One Stop Stores Limited is a chain of retail convenience stores in the UK. The company has more than 500 stores throughout the country.

History

One Stop Stores Limited used to be known as T&S Stores. The chain is owned by one of UK’s largest operator of supermarkets, Tesco Plc. Originally, there were over 800 One Stop shops when it was still under T&S Stores. However, after Tesco’s acquisition of all of the stores, half were converted to the Tesco format and the rest remained as original One Stop shops.

A majority of One Stop stores are located in Wales and England. Every store is open everyday, from Monday to Sunday, in order to meet all of its local customers’ needs. The stores open early in the morning, with the purpose of allowing customers to pick up newspapers and breakfast before going to work. One Stop stores stay open until late evening, so that people can grab some food for dinner, and maybe a bottle of wine or beer.

One Stop stores offer snacks, grocery items, and beverages so consumers will find most, if not all, of what they need in the stores. There are also promotions held on special occasions like Bonfire Night, Halloween or Christmas.

Aside from the products offered at the shops, One Stop also offers services for its customers’ convenience. These services include a cash machine that is free to use, a post office, a pay point for utility bills and a national lottery stall.

In December of 2010, One Stop purchased 77 stores from the Mills Group. The acquisition of these convenience stores is a part of the company’s long-term goals, which is to grow and expand the business. The acquisition of these stores has brought the total number of One Stop shops to 598 all over Wales and England. Before opening to the public, the acquired stores will first be refurbished in order to create a better shopping experience for customers.

Today, there are about 7,000 people employed by the company. The company has plans for the future that it continues to implement. For instance, in the next three years, the company plans to invest in improving the shopping environment of its existing stores and continue in developing its newly created opening programme at the stores.
