Best Harvest Bakeries was created through the partnership of Fresh Start Bakeries, Edward Honesty, Jr. and Robert Beavers, Jr. Prior to being in a partnership with Fresh Start Bakeries, both Ed and Bob were working for McDonald’s Corporation. In May of 1999, Bob worked with Fresh Start’s management team, as well as its employees, in order to buy Fresh Start Bakeries from Campbell Soup.
At the time, Fresh Start already had 14 bakeries in different parts of the world. Fresh Start was also one of McDonald’s leading suppliers of baked goods. Eventually, Ed and Bob were both instrumental in the success of Fresh Start Bakeries. These two partners then became very important personalities in the creation of Best Harvest.
Today, Best Harvest Bakeries is a minority-owned company. It is a single-line, soft-roll bakery with the capacity to produce more than 3,000 dozens of bakery products every hour. Best Harvest now supplies the US Military and McDonald’s Corporation, among its other customers. As proof of how good business has been, the company was recognized by Kansas City’s Chamber of Commerce as one of the “Top Ten Kansas City Small Business of the Year”. This recognition was given to the company in 2004.
Best Harvest Bakeries considers its outstanding relationships with both the people and its local suppliers a great accomplishment. The company is proud to admit that the future growth of the company is primarily based on service that is customer-focused. The company is currently working on the expansion of its facility, which presently has 48 employees that are working and preparing for new opportunities for sales, as well as future opportunities for growth.
Aside from doing well in the business community, Best Harvest Bakeries is also committed to giving back to the community. Founder Ed Honesty has been participating in community service for years and has shared this passion for giving back to the community with the company, as more and more employees are becoming more involved in the activities of the community.
